As part of a PFI consortia Gentian have developed retail and café outlets at the Derby City General Hospital including Costa Coffee and a Boots pharmacy. The Boots unit opened in 2010 and sells normal hygiene and healthcare products that you would find on the high street but they also provide a full prescription service for the Trust. Using the private sector for Pharmacy services has achieved financial savings for the Trust and means that less floor space is required at the Hospital.
